I had gone through a stage of being a mate to my team. my M/M has supported me with feedback on my progress with now being a manager of my staff. the ability to lead a team of employees that now are accepting my role as their supervisor. this is still an ongoing principal of practise within my company. At the start of the coarse I was not (in the mood) mainly due to personal reasons. Going through a separation, selling my house, communication with my ex partner was not going well. this affected my health and outlook on life. During the coarse Leslie took the time out to have a chat and discussed what we apply at work, apply this to my personal issues. This was what I was looking for, I have met a new group of friends that are in the same situation as myself, I use what I have learnt to assist them, we now have goals set in place, the small ones we achieve these each week, There is one major goal we have set for ourselves and can’t waited for April 2014. a 3 month tour of Australia.

Time management – understanding the importance of planning and understanding exactly how I use my time and how much more time I do have to complete tasks. These two have given me the ability to step back and think about areas I can improve but also how I can do it. Have become more time efficient and clear headed. I do not start my day without a list!

My Major and priority goal that I set at out start of the course was to actively seek a promotion. Following the steps I had set out I managed to be promoted to a State Manager. My promotion also comes with its own financial rewards

Measureable results- A number of my staff commented on the level of skills that I was promoting to them without even knowing. It was great to be able to share each weeks modules with them and build upon their skills. I found a couple of tools from this course very helpful which are the time analysis sheet and the Interruption Analyser This has helped me identify were all my time was being spent and wasted so I can now better organise and manage my days more effectively which allows me to schedule in more time to work on my HPAs. By having better time management it has allowed me to focus on and achieve more important tasks such as my focus goals and my win win goals by achieving these goals I have become better organised and has saved the company $ by having implemented better systems and procedures and reducing down time.

I found the course to be very “real” and “practical”. Regardless of what industry you are from the course enables communication within the group and relates to what happens in your work. The ideas generated and discussed by the group enables you to take the good and fit them into your environment. I found the course asks a lot of questions of yourself and how you do things and how you can improve things! The goals are your own goals and when they are achieved, there is a sense of satisfaction.

A major highlight has been the interaction between different people from different organisation in each of the classes. We have not only learnt a lot from each other but also become friends during the course. Michael as a facilitator has been outstanding. His teaching methods have been first class and the way he interacts with the class is excellent. Personally, I have taken some significant steps forward in my personal development in not just one particular area but all-round skills, whether this be time organisation, product/service knowledge, sales techniques, knowing your customers etc. this course has assisted in all areas of the business. I have been able to either achieve or take some strong steps forward in all of my win-win agreement goals and this has taught me the importance of goal setting. I will ensure that in future I’m setting goals not only for my professional career but for my personal life. Outstanding course and I thank all at LMA.

The biggest thing that will stick with me after this course is time management. By completing this course I found myself an extra 8 hours a week to visit customers by simply delegating simple tasks to other employees. Other key factors were to prioritise my daily tasks and only allow an allocated amount of time.

BURDETT SAND SOIL & STONE PTY LTD

CHEQUE-MATES

Course: COL
Name: Trisha McCoy

This course was very helpful in my path to becoming a true leader, LMA facilitators and coaches are always happy to help and have done the courses themselves. I have taken a lot of the tools and forms and use them on a day to day basis in my workplace.

Course: TPE
Name: Peter Antoniadis

Since participating in this course I have realised that my experience and knowledge has been wasted, and that my value to the company has been underutilised. By keeping a record of my time utilisation over a 3 day period, I have been able to summarise my results and identify that the majority of my time was spent on low payoff activities. By accomplishing a win-win goal and reviewing and delegating these low payoff activities to other team members, these low payoff activities are at present being performed for less cost and as part of their training and development. To my surprise my team welcomed the extra responsibility with a positive attitude, showing enhanced performance and improved self esteem. The extra time know available to me enables me to plan and prioritise my time and most importantly identify and create HPAs. Utilising my extra time more effectively has allowed me to set SMART goals to form a basis for action to achieve these HPAs. Visualising that a goal is achievable, focuses my attention, increases my desire and intensifies my belief, confidence and commitment. The phrase “But a man’s reach should exceed his grasp” is now my daily affirmation. Communicating the importance of the value of my time over to my team members whose cooperation and support I need is critical to the success of the company. By improving my communication skills with my team members I will be able to raise morale, increase performance and most importantly achieve the company’s goals and priorities.

CLOSE THE LOOP OPERATIONS PTY LTD

Course: SSTLS
Name: Dean Herewini

This was the only course I have been to where I did not look at the clock! The other students were very friendly and funny. I realized through the course that achieving a higher status is not necessarily achieving success. I gave up more money (afternoon shift supervisor) for a position I was happy to get back (dayshift department leader of machine lines) and realized this was a position I never should have left as it fitted so much better with my personal life. Money isn’t everything.

CONSOLIDATED CHEMICAL COMPANY

Course: TSE

DARGAN FINANCIAL PTY LTD

Course: LMR
Name: Sujan Koirala

The interaction amongst the participants and the discussion revolving case study was great. While problem solving for the problems had somewhat similar approach, the approach of breaking expected outcome into goals and action steps is something I think will be quite useful. The tools in the course like identifying HPA, feedback logs etc were quite useful. I was able to achieve my business goals of bringing more productivity into my team.
